The Navajo meteorite was
called Pish le gin e gin ("black iron) by the
Native Americans in the region. These pieces
originate from the The Field Museum (Chicago) specimen
number Me2099b (in the Mile High Meteorites Collection)
that is called Navajo II in the
manuscript written about the Navajo meteorite find.
All slices will come with a copy of the Schwade
Collection label.
The cut face of each slice was left "as-is" from the
Field Museum, since polishing it may have caused each
slice to break along its crystal boundaries.

The world-renowned Lost City meteorite was the first
fireball in the USA to be tracked by camera and
subsequently recovered. This allowed scientists to
trace its orbit back to the asteroid belt. One of
the stones was reported to have hit a barn.

Huizopa
(Iron-Fine Octahedrite, type IVA) || found near Huizopa, Mexico || |

Nininger described this
one in a paper in reference to G.T. Prior's Catalog as
"a mass of 108.5 kgs and four smaller masses of from 5
to 10 kgs were found in a ruin near Huizopa, 60 miles
west of Temosachic and were brought to Chihuahua for
sale as silver ore." This 105 gram partial slice with a
tad of exterior has a very nicely etched face showing
well-defined Widmanstatten lines and is classified as
type IVA (like Gibeon). Painted with Schwade Collection
number 255 and comes with copies of David New and
Schwade labels.

This really bizarre meteorite
is a rare polymict breccia containing chondritic and achondritic clasts
set in a metal/glass matrix. It also contains carbon and
diamonds. The metal forms balls and pillows giving Bencubbin its
unusual appearance. Bencubbin is also the namesake for the "CB"
group of chondrites.

Zagami is a piece of a lava
flow from Mars confirmed by the Viking Lander in 1976 and the recent
Mars Rovers. These are beautiful thin slices, cut with a wire saw
